On Thursday, May 20th, our S.T.E.P. Team members presented a workshop for our William Hall Academy colleagues to share what we had learned throughout the year in the program. The presentation included the following:
Mrs. Jefferson, our technology teacher gave an overview of STEP.
We showed everyone the technology the school had received as participants in the program: The Flip cameras for recording video, the Snowball microphones to record audio and the headphones for production and post production of our podcasts.
We demonstrated how simple it was to use the Flip cameras and snowball mics.
We shared different websites that would be useful tools for student projects, such as Glogster.edu.
Mrs. Jefferson showed examples of glopgs create by her students.
Ms. Mathis gave an overview of her projects and showed a few of her podcasts. She explained how she used her podcasts as an assessment tool and for student critiques. She also explained the steps involved in the production of the podcast and shared some of her reflections on the process.
Mr. White demonstrated how he produced his podcast as an instructiona tool to demonstrate to other teachers how they could use a particular learning activity called "Boom Bag" in their classroom.
We also demonstrated the software we used for the podcasts: Windows Moviemaker and Audacity.
Before closing, we answered a variety of questions about integrating technology in the classroom. Plus, we shared our enthusiasm for what we had learned and tried to encourage others to use us as a resource for assistance and ideas.
